When things go wrong

I inadvertently made a trivet. This project started this morning as a chunky hat. I realized by row 3 that it was much to thick for a hat. Morphed into a bowl. And ended as a trivet.
Somewhere along the way I messed up and my circle got all wavy and weird. I decided to try and salvage this project before ripping it out and starting over. I had in my little brain that I could do something with it. It was saveable, and I guess it was.
I'm not sure how I feel about this end result. But I think it will grow on me once I get home from work in the morning and can finish it up. Its a very thick trivet. And I love love the surface braid. I'm already thinking about what else I could do with this new stitch. I'm thinking it would be great for bathroom and kitchen rugs.
